Not only is the Bukit Penisula home to Bali’s best waves, it also has the prettiest beaches: White sand and crystal clear azure waters are mostly reached by descending clifftop steps.
The Bukit really is Bali’s new hotspot; as Canggu and Seminyak (with their darker-sand beaches) become ever more crowded, the white beaches of Bingin and surrounding villages are becoming very popular. New restaurants and boutiques are opening every few weeks and there is a wealth of dining and shopping to enjoy, including international food and great local cuisine too.
We built Swell right in the centre of one of the most charming villages here; Bingin retains a very strong community feel with ever-so-friendly Balinese smiles to greet you everywhere you go.
Reef breaks, beach breaks, hardcore barrels or mellow longboard waves; lefts and even some right-handers: Shallow or deep water, you choose the tide and time to suit. Early morning, or sunset surf; the West coast of the Bukit has a huge variety of surf spots, all condensed into a small geographical area. Top spots are of course Uluwatu, Padang-Padang and Bingin.
If you are not after expert waves, then the mellow waves of Dreamland, Baby Padang and Bingin on a higher tide will suit you better.

Flights:
Getting to Bali is pretty easy:
Check sites like kayak and find various routes to Denpasar International Airport (airport code DPS). If you are flexible with your search dates it can save you a good amount of money and can also result in less layover.
From there Swell can arrange a airport pickup and 40 minutes later you are at Swell.
We are easy to find in the center of Bingin, opposite the old car park to the beach.

Bingin, on the Bukit Penisula, is right in the centre of the best waves in Bali and Swell is very deliberately placed so that you only have a short walk (250m) to the beach. Restaurants are all around us and Yoga, a gym, a mini-mart, a spa and even a laundry are all within a very short walk. There is no other Bali surf camp or surf resort in Bali that is better located than Swell
We think Bingin is blessed with one of the prettiest beaches in Bali. No mass tourism here, no high rise, no massive hotels. Yes for surfing Bingin Beach is worldclass but if you just want to relax enjoy the scenery ( the sunsets are spectacular) Bingin is also a great holiday destination.
We are blessed with new restaurants opening up every month that serve healthy food options that cater for every dietary requirement; vegan and vegetarians will be very happy here. There’s live music on thursday nights with accoustic sessions at the Cashew Tree.
If you are looking for a full on Kuta nightlife then Bingin might not be the place for you
Traveling by yourself? You couldn’t have picked a better place to stay !
At our Surf Camp in the Caribbean, we are the #1 destination for solo / single travelers who want to meet new people on their adventure surf holiday.
70% of our clients travel to Swell solo. The way we are set up means that it is really easy to meet fellow travelers. We have breakfast together, we surf together and go out for sunset drinks.
The large communal area which is at the heart of our surf camps / hotels is the central meeting hub to socialize, play a game, and enjoy meals and drinks in the company of others.
Swell is not a suitable place for children, so we have a minimum age restriction of 16 years old
We started our Luxury Surf Camp in the Caribbean 10 years ago. Clients loved the concept of the luxuries of a boutique hotel with the social aspects of a hostel. Swell in the Caribbean has ideal learning to surf conditions for people who have never surfed before. After looking for a location for a second Luxury surf camp, with detours in Mexico and Costa Rica; we finally made it back to Bali after 20 years. Yes some things have changed in Bali, but a few things remained the same: the surf is world class and the locals are still as friendly and smiley as ever.
We looked for a good location in Bali; Seminyak (too busy), Canggu (too busy), finally we made it to Bingin and we realized that it ticks all the boxes: Stunning beach – Awesome surf – A few restaurants, bars and surf shops and lots of local charm.
We decided against opening a ‘Bali Surf Camp‘, instead decided on a boutique surf resort, less focus on the beginning surfers, and more on the intermediate and expert surfers.Swell Bali does not have in house surf instructors, unlike at Swell Surf Camp in the Caribbean. What is the same?
The same good vibe, ideal for solo travelers. The standard of accommodation is also the same: super comfortable rooms, mattresses, linen and very tasty and healthy food.
Swell is a new and purpose-built boutique surf hotel in Bingin Beach, catering for surfers and non-surfers. Bingin is Bali’s hippest beach town on the Bukit Peninsula of Bali, about 35 minutes from Bali’s international airport.
Besides a stunning white sandy beach, the Bukit area caters to people that want to surf some of Bali’s great waves.
Being located in the center of Bingin Beach means that pretty much everything is within a short walking distance from our Boutique hotel accommodation:
The cliff front is a 2 minutes walk, which offers stunning views over Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Impossibles, Bingin, and Dreamland Beach. Restaurants (Local, Italian, French, Mexican, Sports bar) are also less minutes walk away. Bingin is still a small fishing/surfing village but now has all the cool venues that were only found in Canggu and Seminyak years before.
Visiting Bingin is a must on your Bali Holiday, for surfers and non-surfers!
